History

Britannia House Bed & Breakfast

Britannia House B&B is located in the heart of Lymington Town and has 3 guest bedrooms. The property was originally built in 1865 as “The Britannia Commercial Hotel”. It reopened as Bed & Breakfast accommodation in November 2000, offering the most comfortable beds, immaculate bathrooms, luxury linen, exceptional service and freshly made food.

Our homely B&B is perfectly positioned in a quiet location close to the quay with its picturesque cobbled streets. All our rooms are individually designed, spacious and comfortable, providing the perfect base for your New Forest adventures.

After a busy day exploring, take advantage of our guest lounge. This stylish space has squashy sofas, plush fabrics and book-lined shelves by a marble fireplace.

At Britannia House we are passionate about our breakfasts, served in our relaxing, country style kitchen each morning. All our cooked breakfasts are made fresh to order. As well as our cooked options we offer a continental buffet including a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread and preserves.

Tobias Feilke

I started my hotel career as a bell boy at the Kempinksi Hotel “Vier Jahreszeiten” in Munich. From there I moved on to the world famous 5 star Brenner’s Park Hotel, Baden-Baden where I was trained in service, kitchen and reception.

I then decided to come to England, attending the University of Surrey. I studied for a Bsc degree in hotel and catering management. After graduating, I worked in various establishments, including the Savoy Hotel, Cologne and the fabulous 5 star Chewton Glen Hotel & Country Club.

In 2000, I decided to set up my own business. I very luckily found Britannia House. Historically and architecturally a real gem. Unbelievably it was the very first property in my search for the perfect house in a prime location. In 2009 I married Fabienne, whom I met at the front door of my Bed & Breakfast. We have two great kids whom we are delighted to bring up in such a beautiful part of England.

To my great surprise, in 2019 I received a letter from the AA informing me that Britannia House had been shortlisted for the AA Friendliest B&B of the Year! We are very proud that Britannia House was one of 20 Finalists from more than 2,000 AA rated B&Bs and 25,000 B&Bs in the UK. A very happy achievement.
